Walter Thut (born 07/01/1901), from the Seengen Thut line, founded in 1929 a cabinet maker’s in Möriken (Canton of Aargau).
His son Kurt Thut (03/22/1931 – 03/21/2011) got a cabinetmaker in his fathers factory. He studied and got an interior designer and worked some years for several companies. Since 1953 he brang continuous innovation and improvement in his fathers factory. In 1958 a new factory building was built based on his concept. Kurt Thut founded the company «Thut Möbel AG» (Möbel = furniture) and adopted his fathers factory.
Through all the innovations like the «Thut Scheren-Bett» (scissors bed) or the «Thut Folien-Schrank» (foil closet), the «Thut Möbel AG» became world-famous. At the age of 63 Kurt still invented a furniture every year. The ideas and construction accords to his personality (intelligent, moderate, straight, charming), they said. Robert Haussmann, architect and mate of Kurt Thut once said: «Was Thut tut, tut Thut gut.». A wordplay which means «What Thut does, he does good.»
At the age of seventy his sons Benjamin Thut (dipl. Industriedesigner) und Daniel Thut (dipl. Flugzeugmechaniker) continued the company. Till death, Kurt stayed involved in the company.
